A prominent “West Clare Hotelier” has launched a special offer to try and turn business around in the tiny village of Doonbeg, on Ireland’s Atlantic coast. “I’m offering an extra sausage with every fried breakfast purchased,” he declared, “and, a lie-in at weekends!”
“West Clare Hotelier” is a euphemism used by locals to avoid referring to Donald Trump by name. The unpalatable and unpopular former president, who owns the local hotel & golf course, was visiting to launch the special promotion. He once described himself as ‘a life long fan of the sausage’.
“Free wifi?” he added, “did I mention we have the best free wifi? We also have a Corby Trouser Press in every room. You’re gonna love it”
A spokesman for Trump said he intends to lobby the government “to have the hotel declared a free trade zone because at the moment, it’s a trade free zone”.
